Delivery Quote Compare: British Haulage Operators Warned of Theft Hot Spots

Press Release: February 04, 2010

The Road Haulage Association (RHA) has advised Britains freight hauliers to be vigilant, after a number of trucks were targeted by thieves across England.

The warning comes after a series of thefts which saw both new and scrap batteries stolen from trucks in the Worcester and Malvern Hills area around a fortnight ago.

Meanwhile in Northamptonshire, a batch of pre-packed furniture was stolen from a curtain sider last weekend, which was parked overnight in a lay-by in Sywell.

Thames Valley Police have also warned truck drivers to be vigilant around the A404 Marlow bypass, as a number of vehicles have had diesel drained off them whilst parked in the area.

Daniel Parry of delivery price comparison site Delivery Quote Compare said: These thefts from haulage trucks are becoming worryingly frequent, so it is important that drivers ensure that their cargo is secure before leaving their vehicles at night.

Those with any information about any of the thefts from haulage vehicles are urged to anonymously call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
