CorrosionRADAR wins prestigious Materials Performance Award

Press Release: April 20, 2021

CorrosionRADAR is proud to win the Materials Performance (MP) / Association for Materials Protection and Performance (formerly NACE) Corrosion Innovation of the Year Award for its ground-breaking Predictive Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI) Monitoring System – a next generation technology solution that is transforming global response to the enormous industrial challenges created by CUI.

The Award was presented in front of an online industry audience at CORROSION 2021 Virtual Conference and Expo (originally scheduled in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA but moved online this year).

With a near-record number of nominations from companies across the world going forward to the judging panel of corrosion control experts, CorrosionRADAR is especially honoured to be one of the first British organisations recognised for making a significant positive impact in corrosion control.

Co-inventor of electro-magnetic guided radar technology, which underpins the system, and Chief Technology Officer of CorrosionRADAR, Dr Prafull Sharma said:

"We are thrilled that the CorrosionRADAR Predictive CUI Monitoring System has been selected by the panel as a winner of these highly respected awards.

"Our team has received tremendous support from the asset integrity and corrosion industry and our technology partners both at the development stage and in the roll-out of the system at plants across the globe. This award reflects the hard work contributed by everyone in creating an exciting digital product with the potential to completely change the industry approach to managing corrosion under insulation."

CorrosionRADAR’s winning solution combines real-time field data and predictive analytics generated via wireless sensing waveguides embedded under the asset insulation, with quality, integrity and risk-based inspection methodologies to drive repair or rehabilitation schedules. For operators, this means a more sustainable future with informed decision making, optimised maintenance programmes, safer and more reliable operations with decreased risk, and more production uptime. The integrated system is equally suitable for existing plants and incorporation in new build.

The winners of our 2021 MP Corrosion Innovation of the Year Awards represent some of the most promising technologies in the industry today,” said Gretchen Jacobson, Managing Editor-in-Chief of Materials Performance (MP) magazine. “We congratulate CorrosionRADAR and all of our recipients for their achievement.

The MP Corrosion Innovation Award comes at a time of exceptional growth for CorrosionRADAR as it expands partnerships and staff bases and accelerates the roll-out of its technology with the launch of an accessible StarterPACK for the oil and gas, petrochemical and chemical industries.

About MP Corrosion Innovation Awards

The MP Awards Programme provides a forum for the Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP) members and customers to showcase corrosion mitigation technologies and receive recognition for innovative solutions.

Innovations can be related to coatings and linings, materials design, instrumentation, testing, modelling/risk assessment, cathodic protection, chemical treatment, or anything else that directly relates to corrosion prevention and mitigation.

About CorrosionRADAR Ltd

A spin-out from Cranfield University, CorrosionRADAR was founded in 2017 by Dr Chiraz Ennaceur, Dr Prafull Sharma and Dr Mehrdad Silatani to integrate novel Electro-Magnetic Guided Radar (EMGR) sensing technology* into a trusted product range that would allow the industry to continuously monitor and accurately predict Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI). The CorrosionRADAR team combined the patented EMGR technology with predictive analytics in an Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) network to create the world’s longest-range predictive corrosion monitoring solution suitable for any asset across the oil and gas, power and utilities, industrial manufacturing, renewable and civil infrastructure sectors. Attracting significant investment along the way, CorrosionRADAR’s technology is now installed in plants across the globe, where its systems are fast-tracking the move from manual inspection to automated monitoring, and from reactive to predictive corrosion management.
