Collection Pot simplifies and streamlines the group collection of funds for a wide range of everyday occasions and we wanted to support the rapidly changing needs of individuals, companies and communities impacted by the current restrictions in place.
A natural partnership for us is Town & City Gift Cards, a programme that has over 40 town and city gift cards, offering the ability to ‘shop local’ at 100’s of stores in each area. This also includes national retailers at a local level, for example Marks & Spencer.
The Town & City Gift card programme was launched with The Perth Gift Card in 2015 and since then they have launched over 40 local gift card programmes, and gone on to help towns and cities across the United Kingdom to create their own local currencies using the Mastercard network.
The programmes are run by local organisations such as Business Improvement Districts, Local Authorities and Destination Management Companies
Over 5,000 national and independent businesses have now registered to accept the gift cards across the network and the programme has already delivered over £2M of local spend
Town & City Gift Card programmes are designed to lock in additional spend for participating business communities, drive footfall into town centres, encourage discovery of new businesses and stimulate additional economic activity.
Any collection created via the dedicated Town and City Collection Pot platform allows funds to be loaded to a Mastercard backed Town & City Gift Card.
Recipients of the cards can then spend their funds at a network of local businesses including restaurants, cafes, shops, salons, attractions, leisure and entertainment businesses.
Colin Munro Miconex Managing Director said “Miconex and Collection Pot working together makes so much sense, together we can provide new ways for people to support their local business communities. At times like this we all need to work together to do what we can to collaborate, innovate and keep moving forward.” He added: “This new partnership enables people to join forces to give a great gift to their friends and family whilst also showing their support for their local businesses.”
Wendy Carter CEO of Collection Pot said: “Supporting local businesses at this time is absolutely crucial. Getting together a group of friends or work colleagues ‘virtually’ to create an online collection for a special birthday, job leaver, or simply to say thank you using Collection Pot is so quick and easy.”
The new platform will be live on 1 May 2020.
