Press Release: February 23, 2010
Launched in 2004, the Greek Shipping Awards are organised and hosted by Lloyds List, the daily shipping newspaper since 1734. The awards are held annually to recognise and reward achievement and meritorious activity in the Greek shipping industry as well as to promote Greeces status as a maritime centre. Winners are chosen by an independent panel of judges representing a broad cross-section of the Greek shipping industry.
Professor Grammenos received his award at a banquet in Athens last December where he continued to champion his favourite cause education. He said: Education, education, education I would say only education will secure shipping, not only in the present but also the future.
Since Professor Grammenos founded the Centre at Cass Business School in 1983 - which now bears his name - he has seen around 2,500 students from over 100 countries pass through. He has been a mentor to many young stars of the international shipping and banking sectors as well as others working in shipbroking, marine businesses and adjacent sectors.
