Press Release: December 30, 2009
VoucherCodes.com, the UKs original money saving website offering voucher codes and promotional offers to UK consumers, today reported its traffic statistics for Bank Holiday Monday, proclaiming it the biggest online shopping day ever since the site began in November 2004.
Traffic to VoucherCodes.com was up 152% compared to the busiest day last year (December 29, 2008) and 8% up when compared to CyberMonday, the traditionally high pre-Christmas online shopping day of the year (14 December, 2009). Year-on-year, confirmed sales driven by VoucherCodes.com were up by 160% compared to 2008 despite the continuing recession.
James Carter, Managing Director of VoucherCodes.com, says: Huge sales, the impending VAT increase and great promotional and voucher codes offered by retailers are really enticing shoppers to spend. More and more consumers are also discovering that they dont need to battle the crowds and can do their sale shopping from the comfort of their home in fact, we saw a lot of the sales traffic kick off in the early afternoon of Christmas Day as the initial joy of present opening and family fun began to ebb in UK households.
Full figures regarding total sales in 2009 and traffic figures will be released in January 2010. VoucherCodes.com is confident that the numbers will reveal that UK consumers are bucking the doom and gloom predictions of economists by continuing to spend but only when retailers give consumers the voucher codes and discount tools required to convince them to shop.
