Press Release: September 24, 2015
It began when Diana Lovejoy, screenwriter and former documentary film producer, drove to Costa Mesa for a leisurely luncheon and reunion with Hollywood Professional School classmate Amelia Painter. The two began a conversation after lunch about writing a book together -- a book about organic container gardening. The short visit spawned a guidebook that is in the final stages of editing and the authors are in need of support to finish the book.
On August 19, 2015, she and her co-author turned to the crowdfunding community for help completing the new book, Organic Container Gardening for All. The effort was a success and the book is now with Jennifer Silva Redman, a professional book editor based in San Diego, CA. The projected release date for the e-Book and the softcover print version is November 6, 2015. Lovejoy is thrilled and can't wait to share the book with people wanting to learn more about organic gardening using containers.
“The knowledge and tips I share in the book are the result of everything I’ve been exposed to in my life,” explains Lovejoy, who has been organically gardening since a young child, “from my grandmother to all the Master Gardeners I’ve met at Community Gardens to health gurus I’ve studied with. I’d jot down my thoughts about organic gardening and create culinary recipes that helped me and others grow our own food, become healthier and enjoy life more.”
“I want to inspire as many people as possible with this book. I want people to get it and read it and then, as I wrote in the book, get out in the garden and get healthy, even if it’s just for a few minutes a day.”
And, "if an individual is house-bound or unable to get outside, there is always the option of an indoor garden. Window sills are perfect for growing culinary herbs," explained Lovejoy. "Windows with a Southern exposure are perfect for growing potted basil, parsley, sage, rosemary, thyme or tarragon plants. Just be sure the window gets at least 6 hours of sun a day."
