Artist Collective Offer pop-up solution to Christmas market loss

Press Release: October 22, 2020

A group of Southampton based artists, creatives and crafters have set out to create a local and sustainable alternative to online shopping this Christmas. With the Covid-19 pandemic resulting in the cancellation of multiple festive markets and fayres, local artist Carol Clark has gathered the brightest and best local gift makers together to open Art’el  - a new pop up shop set to open in Bitterne Park Triangle from the 4th November- 31st December 2020.

Offering a covid-safe alternative to the traditional Christmas markets, Art’el will welcome shoppers in a socially distanced way to explore artisan festive gifts and creations which are sure to please even the pickiest gift recipient. From handcrafted stained glass to leather work, fused glass, needlepoint quilts, print making, pottery, hand sewn crafts and much more besides, Art’el will offer beautiful gifts, which have been locally made with heart and care.

Carol Clark, founder of Art’el said: “Now more than ever, it is crucially important to support local craftspeople and artists. This year has clearly shown that the Southampton community is fantastic at coming together and Art’el provides a unique opportunity for gift buyers to step away from the commercialism of worldwide click and collect and back local business people, whilst purchasing exclusive gifts that will make a lasting impression.

“Art’el will represent some of the best of Southampton’s creatives and allow people to once again enjoy the shopping experience that has been so lacking due to current restrictions – especially as we know that choosing a gift for loved ones this festive season means more than ever, when you can’t necessarily see them in person. As a group of artists and creatives, we are delighted to be able to offer people the opportunity to safely browse for items that mean so much more than mass produced products. So don your face masks and come and visit us.”

The Art’el pop up shop will officially open at 10am on the 4th November 2020 and can be found at 25 Manor Farm Road, Bitterne Park Triangle, where it will provide the best in inspiring gifts and crafts until 31st December 2020.
