Press Release: December 01, 2009
Everyone has that person in their family who they of course love dearly but by the end of Christmas day want to smother with their festive jumper. There is the mother-in-law who still teaches you how to iron you boyfriends shirt after three years, the Brother who forgets your birthday every year and your sixty five year old Nan who just cant keep her opinions to herself.
www.intotheblue.co.uk asked 1,289 people what they planned on buying their family members for Christmas, especially those that we want to throw mince pies at. The results show that almost half of those asked would love to buy a loved one a thoughtful gift but one with a twisted edge.
1 in 6 people asked want to buy their mother-in-law a bitter sweet Christmas gift this year. Amusingly the idea of watching her jump off a building was popular with 16% of those asked, a Bungee Jump is a gift that she is sure to love but perhaps not look forward to that much.
Sisters loved the idea of their older brother un-wrapping a Wing Walking experience on Christmas morning. 23% believe it is bound to get his adrenaline pumping, but walking along a plane 50ft in the air, could definitely be viewed as pay back for the not so thoughtful gift of supermarket shower gel from last year.
As Grandma hits 70 she sits quietly in the rocking chair with a sherry, but until then she loves to speak her mind openly and freely. Although we all love our Nan, 38% of people would love to buy her a Skydive this year, as long as they got a front row seat.
The crazy cousin who has different coloured hair every time you meet her will be receiving a day with the Military driving tanks this Christmas, with 18% of people agreeing this would be the perfect gift for keeping her inline this festive season.
Commenting on the results, Rob Holmes of intotheblue.co.uk said the following:
We are fully aware that experience days can be a frightening prospect, the idea of doing a Skydive is fun but having it written on the kitchen calendar makes it much more real. They are a great idea for a gift, and using them as a plot of revenge is fun. You can are still giving a great present, but should certainly keep the cocky brother quiet over the Christmas Turkey.
The site has over 600 different experience days, and there are always new ones being added. I am sure that the perfect gift can be found for putting your family in their place, but still showing you care.
