New CEO for EADS Defence and Security Systems Ltd

EADS Defence and Security Systems Ltd has appointed Paul Watson as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Paul has worked for the company for the past ten years in a number of senior management positions, including Chief Finance Officer and he has been an integral part of building the business, taking it through its strategic development and growth.

He has extensive knowledge and experience of the UK defence and security industry. In addition Paul has worked on overseas government contracts in France, Germany and US.

"I am passionate about leading the business at a challenging and exciting time which will see us not only continuing to deliver in our core markets of defence and security but also addressing new markets such as the financial sector, and the oil and gas industry," said Paul.

Based at the UK Headquarters of EADS Defence & Security Systems Ltd in Newport, South Wales, Paul takes over the role of a company with a headcount that has grown by 150 per cent and has booked 1.5bn of business since December 2001. During his time with the company, Paul has been instrumental in the integration of EADS UK interests onto the Newport Campus.

The portfolio of business in Newport includes many large scale integration projects such as FiReControl, Defence Information Infrastructure (DII), Skynet 5 and Synergy. EADS Defence & Security Systems Ltd expects significant growth to be realised over the next few years, capitalising on previous experience in these key programmes, leveraging technologies from the rest of the EADS organisation and from strong investment in research and development.

In his earlier career Paul has worked for a number of companies in a variety of industries. Previous to EADS, Paul performed general management, project management and financial planning roles at Nortel Networks and BAe Space Systems Ltd.
