On Thursday 23rd May at 6.00 pm the Shazar Gallery (Naples, Italy) presents Dream scape from river, a solo exhibition by the Sudanese artist Mutaz Elemam. The painter, who lives and works in Cairo, has taken part in several exhibitions in New York, Miami, United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Lebanon, Qatar, Kuwait, Sudan, as well as different Biennale like the one in Beijing, and also international symposium but it is the first European Elemam solo exhibition properly in Shazar Gallery and therefore it will be a unique and unrepeatable event.
Infatuated with the majestic beauty of the Nile, Mutaz Elemam has developed over years a visual repertoire that expands towards abstraction with ample liquid brushstrokes, illuminated by light touches that accentuate depth, and a palette that captures the spirit of the river landscape.
The Elemam’s paintings re-proposes colours of the river flow that crosses the Black Continent with both modern and ancient style. In the series presented for the occasion, Dream scape from river, green, brown and blue backgrounds reconstruct the corners of the vegetation, without interrupting the separation between sky, earth and water. The chromatic stylistic solutions mark the reflection and the inner sensitivity of the artist, giving life to the thousand nuances and stains with a contemporary vision rooted in African culture.
The exhibition will remain open until July 5th 2019.
