Nottinghams Traditional English Restaurant, Restaurant 1877, is set to hold a St Georges Day Gourmet evening to raise money for the Royal British Legion.
Located in the familiar and striking listed building at Canning Circus, formerly Ben Bowers, the family-run Restaurant is holding the special event on 23rd April to showcase its delectable range of traditional signature dishes. Diners will have the opportunity to donate a discretionary service charge of 10% to the Royal British Legion, a charity that helps ex-Service personnel and their families through welfare initiatives, including the annual Poppy Appeal.
Owner and Chef, Anthony Baxter, proudly commented: Our menu combines everything to be loved about traditional English cuisine. The evening will furnish diners with a diverse and satisfying array of customary dishes made from top quality ingredients, locally sourced wherever possible. To build on this truly English theme, we hope that diners will agree that the Royal British Legion is a very worthy and relevant cause to give to.
The restaurant has also donated a three course meal for four people as first prize to a recent charity quiz in aid of the children of Chernobyl, held by The University of Nottinghams Slavonic Society. The cause is close to the heart of 1877s staff members, including head waitress Anja Waszczyszyn, herself studying Russian at the University.
With an impressive three course pre-theatre menu, a weekly and often themed student night with a dedicated loyalty card scheme, and with traditional English breakfasts served at weekends, Mr Baxter is confident that there is a fine dining experience available for all to enjoy. In addition, the nearby Park Residency Committee is also issuing dedicated Restaurant 1877 discount loyalty cards to its members.
