Yorkshire based RecordCustomer.com has hit lockdown head-on and developed a platform in record-time to help businesses in the hospitality trade, picking up customers all across the UK.
The platform helps hospitality sector businesses comply with test and trace responsibilities; the team at parent company Askew Brook put together a prototype in a couple of days and got such positive feedback they decided to develop it into a subscription-based product in record time. Lead Developer, Jack Spriggs, said, “Coronavirus has been tough to all businesses and particularly difficult for our tourist and hospitality industry, we thought we could build something simple that would save them time and money they just don’t have. We needed to do it quickly, no one had much time to react to it”.
The team are based in Scarborough, North Yorkshire which is the second most visited area outside of London and they decided to give it away for free to local pubs. Richard Askew Managing Director adds “Small businesses are a lifeline to towns like ours, they provide the majority of the jobs and the earnings; we need them to keep going. We’ve had breweries, museums, cafes and Local Authorities get in touch”.
The idea is gaining traction across the UK too, Richard continues “Askew Brook normally work on long term projects, we’ve been looking for a product for a while, and to wake up in a morning to find a bar in Brighton or a hotel in the Highlands finding what we’ve made is a brilliant feeling. I think the idea of ‘giving away’ to the local community is an interesting one and will hopefully be a positive outcome of the coronavirus epidemic ”.
