In response to the Covid-19 crisis, all our efforts were solely focused on providing uninterrupted supply while still mitigating risks.
Hence to prevent exposure of consumers and bill delivery agents from the virus, it was essential for us to comply with the government guidelines and temporarily suspend non-essential services like Metre reading. The bills for Apr’20 & May’20 were generated on a provisional/estimated basis of past consumption and under billed due to additional usage because of lockdown.
However as normalcy is being restored, Tata Power-DDL has introduced a smart self metre reader feature to help all consumers get their exact amount of bills based on actual usage as opposed to provisional ones provided during the lockdown. The feature has been launched in line with the DERC (Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission) guidelines to ensure the safety of customers
Seven million Tata Power consumers will be sent a web link for self metre reading by creating SMS alerts. The link will straight away redirect them to the company’s official website.
Tata Power-DDL assures the safety and security of the online process. The consumers will then be asked to generate an OTP as they click on the link, by entering the consumer number.
They can then use the browser access camera to scan the power meter display to record the reading and submit it through the link.
Another route to go about this is downloading the TPDDL connect App and clicking on the option of “Upload Metre Reading”. Upon getting actual meter reading, the entire provisional billing for the past period is recalculated considering evenly balanced consumption for each day. The slab benefit (0 to 200, 201 to 400, 401 to 800, 801 to 1200 and Above 1200) has been given for the recalculated bills. Moreover, the subsidy is also credited in the bills as per the prevailing norms, if applicable.
We guarantee all our consumers that the payment made towards the provisional/estimated bills are already taken into account and the current reading based bill generated is only for the differential consumption and amount.
