October 1, 2020 – House of RC is proud to announce the public beta, after three years of planning and a year of development, of the first truly crowd sourced and open data driven platform built specifically for RC. It’s time for something new in RC that brings it into the digital age. Something that will deliver value to all players in the RC industry being beginners, hobbyists, racers, pilots or professionals as well as brands, retailers, clubs, organizers, media outlets and everybody else that loves RC!
The core principles of the platform are:
House of RC is built around six core entities: People, Organizations, Places, Events, Products and Resources. The first five are physical things in the real world and are typed thru a dynamic system. For example you have Brands, Clubs, Retailers, Federation, Media, Organizers all being different type of organizations with different attributes and features. The same thing goes for the other four. Resources are online entities that can point to any location on the internet, like a Facebook Group, a forum, manufacturer website, product page, podcast, and instagram account or why not a setup sheet. You can also create content resources for Text, Images and Videos.
With these six primary entities and all attributes as well as connections between them and some secondary entities like event signups, results and relationships we can create the first ever complete RC graph, we call this the RC360 Graph. RC360 is the underlying technology that powers the House of RC experience.
“We see this as taking RC into the digital era. We have a lot of ideas of really revolutionary features we can use RC360 for once we have enough data. I think the community will play a very important role here to come up with new ways of using the graph to benefit specific needs as well as contributing with quality data. But House of RC is already chockfull of features above and beyond what’s available today.” says Conny Svensson, owner of Pixits and the founder of House of RC.
But the best thing about RC360 is that the graph is open to others to build their own services and features on top of. You could for example build your own website for a cup or series and let RC360 handle all your data but only focus on branding and add your own touch to it. We don’t want to lock in the data, we want it to be open because it’s only together we can move the industry forward, not by new proprietary and locked in solutions. A first such partnership is with RCGP that will use RC360 for events, registrations, results and driver profiles.
