GLASGOW, 27th February 2020 – Competence Matters Ltd. headquartered near Glasgow, with offices in Warrington, Birmingham & London, are delighted to welcome Caroline Gumble, the CEO of The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) to our Head Office in Scotland, to MC our roundtable discussion on Women in Construction on March 6th from 9am to 12pm. Competence Matters Ltd. are proud sponsors of The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), which is at the heart of a management and leadership career in the built environment. Membership of the CIOB offers you the most direct route to a management career in construction, and you’ll join the largest professional network of its kind spanning the globe.
Before joining the CIOB as Chief Executive in August 2019 Caroline Gumble was the Chief Operating Officer at Make UK, which champions and celebrates British manufacturing and manufacturers. Speaking about the event Caroline said: “The benefits of increasing diversity in the workforce are numerous, it can mean new ways of thinking, working and growing business. It is essential that increasing the diversity of the construction workforce is seen not just as a box ticking exercise but a progressive and positive move to expand the workforce and improve the depth and breadth of skill sets available.”
This will be the first of a series of roundtables to discuss topical issues within the construction industry held by Competence Matters Ltd. at the Head Office near Glasgow. The discussion points for the day have been provided by Equate Scotland, which, established in 2006, is the national expert in gender equality throughout the STEM sectors (www.equatescotland.org.uk).
The event is invite only as numbers are limited to allow for discussion by all those attending.
The hope is that our event will inspire more similar conversations within the construction industry, as well as others.
