There is only room for another 82,000 vehicles to be submitted to the car scrappage scheme which allows car insurance customers to take the opportunity to scrap their old car for cash towards a brand new vehicle.

The scheme has only been in operation since April 2009 and ever since, the government has revealed it has taken orders of more than 318,268 new vehicles.

The Department of Business is already making moves to allocate quotas to manufacturers as it reaches the end of its budget, and UK car insurance customers are encouraged to take part before its desired manufacturer runs out of orders.

The motor retail sector has been thankful to the scrappage scheme for playing a vital role in its re-growth, according to The Retail Motor Industry Federation (RMI).

Business Secretary, Lord Mandelson has also spoken out regarding the impressive number of drivers taking part in the scheme, whilst supporting our automotive manufacturers through a very difficult time.

As well as helping to reinvigorate the automotive manufacturing industry, the scrappage scheme is also working to improve environmental effects, scrapping older vehicles and recycling raw materials. Car insurance customers interested in going green should consider carbon neutral car insurance.
