Bayard Press launches new summer project: Keeping parents sane while keeping kids busy

Launching on July 1st, Bayard will be releasing weekly activities for kids of all ages to stay engaged with learning while having fun and keeping out of trouble.  In theme with their magazine collection, the programme has four streams, categorized by age and interests, to better cater to the needs of its target audience.   The programme is free but registration is required.  Parents can log on to Bayard’s specially created website to download the activities each week.

There’s plenty of good options online but there’s a lot of lacklustre options too.

This project was created with overwhelmed parents in mind.  Decision fatigue has never hit us harder.  With the internet proffering up a million ways to keep the kids busy and more – we ask ourselves, which of these are actually age appropriate, stimulating, high quality learning experiences?  This was the thinking behind the making of Summer Activities with Bayard.

The Summer Activities Programme provides children with weekly downloads of interactive activities and fun games. The activities are designed to be printed to keep kids off screens.  The stimulating challenges are flexibly designed to be completed by family together or children alone. Parents can decide whether an activity is a family affair or a time for independent learning.

This year has been a rollercoaster of events – perhaps a little more excitement that we’re used to and definitely more than a few curve balls for those of us with children.  Parents, we see you, standing in the shadow of a rapidly growing tree of parental duties with new branches sprouting every few moments or so – supervising the kids during work-from-home hours; keeping the kids busy so that you actually get work done; trying to give them fresh while keeping them indoors; and rolling your sleeves up to homeschool them yourself.  Sign up for Summer activities with Bayard and you may discover that your tree is actually a palm tree.
