ANTM Role Models Direct Positive Attention
Aspiring model Kahla McKey, a fan of Americas Next Top Model was delighted when cycle 11 winner, McKey Sullivan, traveled to Chicagos Rush University Medical Centre last week to visit her. The 18 year old is currently suffering from a tumor known as Osteosarcoma and has had to undergo several surgeries and chemotherapy due to her condition.
Sullivan took time out of her busy schedule and flew in from Paris to meet her after hearing of her story. She spent all day with Kahla and took part in a small catwalk show, along with one of Kahlas doctors. The determined teen took advice on modeling and explained that if she doesnt make it as a model she would like to pursue an alternative ambition – to make it as a broadcast journalist.
McKey Sullivan is just the latest ANTM winner to have hit the headlines recently.
Plus-size model Whitney Thompson won cycle 10 and received media attention last month after being chosen to feature in V magazines plus-size model issue, and winner of cycle 13, 57 petite model Nicole Fox, appeared on the front cover of Seventeen magazine this month.
Americas Next Top Model will soon return to our screens following the original formula of searching for 58 and above models. CW have confirmed that a two-hour premier will air in March and that Tyra will be joined by a brand new judge – in the form of Andre Leon Talley.
According to recent rumors highlighted in the press he may not find Tyra the easiest of people to work with – it seems that she has gained quite a reputation as a diva amongst employees but this appears to work for her, and the show.
An insider has been quoted by buddy.tv saying – "Honestly, I don’t know how it would be to work under her. But for me, it was a good experience. Tyra just knows how she likes things done. And as for her ‘diva-ness,’ well, it sells."
It certainly does! Americas Next Top Model and The Tyra Banks show have both been nominated for the NAACP Image Awards, which you can catch February 26th at 8pm on FOX.
