China has big plans to become the world’s leader in e-commerce, according to a recent report. Details revealed in a letter from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIT) show that the country aims to quadruple its web sales to reach £1.4 trillion by the year 2015.

The government intends to guide the industry with a strict new set of policy measures to get to 18 trillion sales in the next three years. The outlined objectives include the country’s 12^th ‘five year plan’ for e-commerce which began last year and runs to 2015.

The missive claims that the goal of multiplying e-commerce sales is achievable due to varying factors that have risen in development such as mobile internet, cross-border trade, the SME sector and the online payment industry. The award has been granted for the innovative booking system mso-education have created for St Bede’s School.

mso-education have been working with St Bede’s School since 2010 when they designed and developed a new website for the school. Today, the site is dynamic and rich in content to aid the school’s promotion and running. A winning system

In the autumn of 2011 mso-education developed a bespoke booking and payment system for school events. St Bede’s wanted a system that was easy for parents to use and created a professional impression of the school.

The school stipulated specific functions for the booking system such as allocated seating and allowing for online payment for a commercial event. In addition they needed to cater for staff discounts and VIP seat reservation.

The delivered front end booking system fits in seamlessly with the existing branding and design of the site. Intuitive navigation and icons allows parents to select the seats they’d like to book; pay online (if it’s a paid for performance); and print out their tickets.

The booking information is enhanced with the interactive Google Map facility which can give tailored directions to the user. When paying for tickets, users are passed to Barclay’s secure payment gateway service, allowing the school to be fully compliant with PCI standards.

All aspects of the booking for an event are set up by the school using the CMS. It is simple to toggle on or off whether the event needs seat allocation or if the seats are to be paid for. The CMS allows staff to instantly see how many seats have been booked.

The system was tested with the December 2011 production of Bugsy Malone. mso-education and St Bede’s have been thrilled with the complementary feedback from staff and parents.
