The stage adaptation of Roald Dahl's classic tale of the 'under-kid' with music by the magically maniacal Tim Minchin is set to be the "must have ticket" this winter in London just as it was last year in Stratford-Upon-Avon. The production, the set, the aforementioned music and, most importantly, the performances by both young and old could have this show extending beyond the seasonal slot it is enjoying at the Cambridge Theatre on Seven Dials. It was announced today that Michael Parkinson FRICS, recently retired partner at Clitheroe chartered surveyors and land agents Ingham & Yorke, is to become Chief Steward of the Forest of Bowland.

Parkinson, a longstanding adviser to Lord Clitheroe and Sir Simon Towneley, who has been involved in Bowland affairs for more than 40 years, is being appointed to the role by the Lord of Bowland as part of a continuing drive to promote Bowland and its distinctive identity.

For the past two years, William Bowland, as the camera-shy 16th Lord likes to be known, has been spearheading a campaign to raise Bowland's profile as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

In April this year, he unveiled a new-style Bowland road sign; in 2009, he revived the ancient office of Bowbearer of the Forest, a role dating back almost nine hundred years.

Former Chief Stewards of the Forest – once known as Master Foresters – have included a duke, sixteen knights, a baron and an earl. Michael will be the first Chief Steward appointed since 1922.

Formerly Steward to the Honor of Clitheroe and currently Steward to the Manor of Slaidburn, Michael Parkinson, 66, commented:

Professor Aston, historian and long time presenter of Channel 4 programme "Time Team" is the latest in a long line of people who have used Solar Fusion to obtain free energy through solar power.

It's free for everyone, because the founder of the initiative, Rashmi Ray, has covered the costs herself. The 24-year-old who is a fashion blogger from London says she was determined to do something special for the couple.

She says by making it free, everyone can be included: "For me, this book is about uniting the world, what could be a better gift than that? The Prince has followed in his mother's charitable footsteps, he is genuine and so is Kate and I wanted to do something different for them both. They are potentially our future King and Queen."

This initiative gives people a unique opportunity to be part of a book that could go down in history and was the first idea of its kind. Rashmi has already been interviewed by mainstream news networks, which will be airing this week and says she is excited with the response the book has had so far. She said:

The Royal wedding is on 29th April 2011, but messages are being received up until 30th May to give people enough time and perhaps feel inspired by the wedding day. However pages are limited.

The book is being sectioned according to where the messages come from, so people are encouraged to represent their country.

A survey by one of the UK's leading discount voucher code websites, www.cantBarsed.com, has revealed the majority of British shoppers intend to splash out on gifts this Mother's Day, with a 76% of shoppers saying they will treat their mums to flowers, chocolates or jewellery.

Only 3% of penny-pinching voters admitted they weren't going to bother buying a card or present at all.

The poll of 545 shoppers was carried out in order to discover more about the spending habits of online shoppers in the run-up to Mothers Day. Visitors to the website took part in the poll by answering multiple choice questions on such topics as 'Who is your favourite celebrity mum' and 'What would your ideal gift be this Mother's Day'.

The poll revealed that The Simpsons' Marge Simpson is the reigning make-believe mum with 47 per cent of the vote ahead of Wilma Flintstone (33%) and Family Guy's Lois Griffin (16%), while Holly Willoughby is the most admired celebrity mum. Willoughby, who is expecting her second child this year, attracted 35% of votes with Myleene Klass (17%) and Dannii Minogue (14%) taking second and third place respectively.

An honourable mention goes to Queen Elizabeth II, who was picked by 4 voters as their most admired matriarch!

When quizzed about what would be their preferred gift, most mums proved that it's the thought that counts by saying that they would be happy with any gifts that come their way (19%) or simply to be taken out for lunch so they don't have to cook (11%). However, one savvy mum replied to say that she always gets the gift she wants by buying it herself!
