Lots of different stores across the UK probably saw an increase in their sales over the Christmas period and Pet at Home were certainly no strangers to it either. The company’s like-for-like sales over the six weeks to January 12th had increased by almost 5% compared to the same time last year.

The company have 308 stores nationwide and they opened another 27 this last year and that is not to mention how much their online sales would have helped them on top of what they have done in stores up and down the country.

Speaking about the company’s fortunes the Chief Executive of the company, Matt Davies, said: “Our performance over the Christmas period has been particularly pleasing given the difficult trading conditions that existed in the preceding months.”

There are other companies that you can visit online if you can’t get out of the house. Online for Pets are a prime example, a company who offer the exact same things as Pets at Home but you can order them from the comfort of your own home and have them delivered straight to your door.

If you pay a visit to their website, onlineforpets.co.uk you will be able to have a look for yourself at all of the fantastic offers and deals that they have available. If you are making a big order with onlineforpets, an order over the value of £50 then you will have everything delivered free of charge to your home.

These days animal healing is the best option for career point of view means anybody has interest in to it he can make his career in this field I think this is the best option. Even those just want to learn how to treat with your animals can also join the one day workshop or weekly or monthly courses. Animals cannot speak just check from their energy level. When they are not normal they become lazy or can’t behave properly. To bring that energy level back that process is known as animal healing. This helps them to provide a holistic approach towards exclusive animal care. There are several ways to treat with our animals problems but for this we should have some knowledge. Animal’s energy centres can become blocked, damaged, stagnant, and need healing energy just as much as our human energy centres do! The animal healing course includes an introduction to animal behaviour, energy fields and how to feel them, how to work specifically with animals and finally giving animal healing to the variety of animals we have for students to work with – horses, sheep, dogs, cat and chickens.

We put in best efforts and employ a combination of training and healing procedures into our treatment and thus help in solving animal problems and train them according to the expectations of the owner. Emily is our proficient trainer who provides all training and healing to the dogs and mould them according to the environment at the owner’s home. Not only this, she also helps in improving the dog and owner relationship. During equine rehabilitation, Asentia animal healing professionals are fully proficient in animal courses that help in treating horses that need post-operative or post-traumatic care.
As well as getting gifts for all the humans in your life, many pet owners like to make sure that their cats and dogs are involved in all the fun of the festive season and buying them new toys, tasty snacks or a cosy new bed to sleep in is something that many animal owners choose to do.

Giving your pets their own treats at Christmas instead of human food is recommended by experts. Although a small bit of the Christmas dinner is a nice treat, too much rich food isn’t good for cats and dogs and some festive food such as chocolate and grapes can be poisonous to pets.

Alongside treating your pets, you may want to treat an animal lover in your life to their very own cat or dog. However, this is not recommended as charities like the RSPCA report larger numbers of animals being abandoned over the festive period because kittens and puppies are given as gifts to people that can’t look after them.

To find the perfect gift for your four legged friend this Christmas make sure you visit Online For Pets. The web-based store onlineforpets.co.uk can provide your pet with everything they could want this Christmas. This includes toys from leading brands such as Kong and Nina Ottosson, as well as a wide range of pet care supplies such as beds, collars, leads and training equipment so visit onlineforpets for all your pets needs both at Christmas and throughout the rest of the year.

A study from insurance company More Th>n found that there were 59% more claims for road accidents between November 2010 and January 2011, compared to the previous three months. The research also highlighted a number of areas as hotspots for pet accidents and these are Ilford and Sutton in London, Huddersfield and Halifax in Yorkshire, and Carlisle in Cumbria.

The increase in the number of pets being injured or killed in road accidents in the winter is thought to be caused by a lack of visibility during the dark mornings and evenings, as motorists simply don’t always see them before its too late.

Making your pet more likely to be seen in the dark can be done by investing in high visibility and reflective cat and dog collars for them to wear every day and brightly coloured dog coats or vests for when you take them out on walks. Taking this simple precaution can ensure that drivers will see your pet and be able to stop before it is too late.

This year a record number of dogs have been abandoned outside Gloucestershire’s animal shelters, which are having to turn them away due to their inability to cope with the sheer volume.

Chris Davis, addmysupport.com founder pointed out that, “When there is no room at shelters – or the finance is unavailable – the only option is to put them down.

“The sad fact is that many of these dogs were, and will be purchased as Xmas gifts, only for their owners to find they cannot cope, afford or give enough time to their pets. With the recession continuing the crisis shows no signs of stopping.

“We’re not trying to discourage people from buying a pet – there are plenty of loving pets out there looking for a good home – we just want them to consider whether it’s the best time for them to do so.

Which is why this Christmas addmysupport.com is campaigning to get people to either sponsor a dog or to donate to Animal shelters.

“It’s a great alternative for animal lovers who would like a pet but currently are not in a position to do so, or simply just people who care,” Mr Davis added. “And very often it’s a gift that keeps on giving.”

You can get involved with the “Sponsor a dog this Xmas” campaign at: http://addmysupport.com/pages/sponsor_a_dog_this_xmas.

For further information please contact: Chris Davis on 01453 873059 or chrisdavis@addmysupport.com.

Notes to editors
addmysupport.com has launched this campaign in response to the latest news reports across Gloucestershire regarding the severity of the abandoned dogs left outside animal shelters, especially with the upcoming Christmas period in mind.

About Us
We allow anyone to find assistance whenever they need it and whatever they need it for – be it projects, campaigns, personal goals, learning, or life’s tougher challenges. Bringing people and organisations together is often the best and quickest way to get things done – ensuring people get expert and professional help and support when it’s needed most.

This time round Dorwest’s efforts to get the word out are being supported by TV presenter Michaela Strachan who has concerns about her own dog’s reaction to fireworks, “My dog Toto is absolutely terrified of firework noise, he usually ends up shaking and hiding in a dark cupboard. Its always been hard to know how to help him, being able to give him a Dorwest herbal remedy to calm him down is a fantastic solution and I fully support their campaign to make more pet owners aware that help is available.”

There are also new look point of sale materials and leaflets to help vet practices and retailers to support the initiative. Once again Dr Monkey, the charismatic Border Terrier, will be adding his woof to the debate on the blogosphere, encouraging pet owners to make sure that their pet stays relaxed and mellow throughout the firework season.

Pet owners eagerly viewed Dr Monkey’s diary of his day-to-day life leading up to firework night last year. The personality of the cheeky Border Terrier shone through and the blog highlighted just how easy it was for Dr Monkey and his friends to stay calm and relaxed in the face of firework fears and phobias, albeit with a little help from Dorwest’s herbal treatments.

See Dr Monkey on Facebook, Twitter and at http://dorwestdrmonkey.blogspot.com from mid September and don’t forget to bring his amusing yet educational antics to the attention of pet owners.

The campaign’s positive approach emphasises how pets can be helped to adopt a laidback attitude and the theme is developed in new leaflets with updated advice in an easy to read format. To help stockists make a big noise with the campaign there is a ‘Dorwest Say Relax’ fireworks promo kit containing leaflets, leaflet holder, poster, shelf wobbler and stickers, which will be sent on request free of charge from Dorwest while stocks last. Simply contact Dorwest, telephone 01308 897272 or email trade@dorwest.com.

For those that like to take the technical approach there is a new technical sheet describing the likely mode of action of Scullcap & Valerian Tablets and Organic Valerian Compound with information on some of the latest published studies.

With a recent survey showing that over 90 per cent of customers would buy these products again, Scullcap and Valerian Tablets and Organic Valerian Compound are set to fly off the shelves during the busy firework period, so remember to stock up early!
