Going Green: The Future of Luxury investigates the luxury industry's response to our changing world. Produced by The Luxury Channel and shown on CNBC as part of the Luxury Life series, this compelling documentary raises the crucial question of whether the industry is really doing enough to promote and support sustainability. The film also asks how much of a conscience luxury consumers have as we all try to conserve resources.
It is a challenging time for the luxury industry, with the economic downturn threatening sales, and a growing awareness of real social and environmental challenges, such as climate change, wars over resources and increasing consumer expectations of luxury brands.
Fiona Sanderson, Joint MD of The Luxury Channel, says "Everybody is asking questions about sustainability and the shift away from conspicuous consumption. We see it as part of our commitment to viewers and the industry to highlight ethical, ecological and philanthropical initiatives from within the luxury industry. And we also see it as our duty to ask the question are we really doing enough?"
In the documentary Going Green: The Future of Luxury we meet Dr Jem Bendell who has been challenging the industry to place sustainability at the very heart of luxury. Attending the luxury industry summits in Monaco and Delhi, he questions the men and women behind the brands and finds out how the leaders of luxury are tackling these issues.
Can you be a luxury producer, or consumer, with a conscience? This important documentary poses some hard questions as it tries to find some solutions to the global challenges we face today.
