Alternative investment advice is happy to announce that they have secured an agreement with a major financial institution; the agreement has been put in place to work with project developers who could be entitled to receive CER carbon credits. There are a number of projects that could potentially miss out on the certificates due to policy change by the end of 2012.

CER carbon credits are already being exchanged on a number of world traded markets, the spot price for the commodity has varied in recent years. The CER’s are currently being traded around €3.50; many worldwide projects could be given millions of credits on a pre-issue basis. The agreement has been put in place to help and assist the owners of these projects in order to secure the credits, the financial institution is happy to purchase these credits on a pre-issue basis for an agreed price. Alternative investment advice would be happy to speak with any project owner/developer relating to this matter. Contact Callum Clarke on info@alternativeinvestmentadvice.co.uk

Destination number one in our list may not even figure in others. Of course, the sources conducting the survey/study would have set unique criteria to identify the investment hotspots.

The ground reality is that real estate investors look for exciting opportunities in emerging markets, where there is potential for high future returns, as well as developed markets that have remained safe investment havens through the recession. This top ten list identifies these gems:

1. Istanbul- this Turkish city was rated as a top city for real estate development and acquisition last year. The Euro zone turmoil is not expected to affect property in Istanbul and investment prospects are forecasted to be good. For the record, Istanbul’s property market remained stable through the 2009 global financial crisis. Foreign Direct Investment in Istanbul property during 2011′s second quarter was close to $200 million while property sales were estimated to be $781 million over the same period. What makes the city track? It’s lively with about 15 million inhabitants and home to several cultural and historic sites.

2. Canada- From ski chalets and timber lodges to private cabins and a slew of holiday and other real estate properties for sale, Canada is an excellent investment destination. Unlike neighbour united states, Canada has a stable housing market, with home prices and sales continuing their strong momentum over the last decade. Eastern Canada remains popular with brits thanks to its relative proximity (a 5-7 hour air journey)

3. Sao Paulo- An emerging real estate market, brazil’s biggest city Sao Paulo has enjoyed sustained economic growth, rapid population and income growth, and increase consumer spending. The 2016 Olympics and 2014 World Cup in Brazil are global-scale events that are expected to further thrust the city in the limelight. Many real estate development projects in collaboration was state municipalities will also present opportunities for overseas privates investors. 4. Warsaw- Poland’s Human Development Index has been robust since its communist days ended, and now, its capital city-Warsaw- is fast attraction the attention of global real estate investors. Warsaw is a growing business hub, its residential property market is undervalues and its commercial returns have witnesses an up tick.

5. Berlin- Germanys capital city, despite enjoying a high quality of living and a strong local economy, has undervalued residential property, presenting opportunities for real estate investor. Its steady commercial returns (capital values and income returns) and growing rents are other positives for buying property in Berlin.

6. Mauritius- a popular holiday destination, Mauritius is now open to foreign investors thanks to government initiatives. Besides the obvious beauty of this island and upcoming real estate development projects, including beachfront complexes, Brits can take advantage of the financial perks on offer. On purchase of apartments or villas for £310,000 or more in designated zones, you can become a Mauritian resident and enjoy lower business and personal taxes.

7. Hong Kong- The residential, retail and office sectors are growing at breakneck speed, with commercial property returns being too good to pass up.

8. Sofia- That the real estate market in Sofia, Bulgaria’s capital city is recovering after depressed property prices across retail and residential sectors, with forecasts of stable future growth, are all promising signs for global investors.

9. Bucharest- A growing business hub, Bucharest has witnessed robust commercial growth in the warehouse and office sectors, making it an attractive investment proposition.

10. Budapest- like Bucharest, Budapest’s commercial sector is buzzing, and its residential property is also undervalued. There are many more emerging real estate investment hotspots that promise attractive gains to investors with the means and risk appetite for purchasing overseas properties. But the ten listed above are chart-toppers in their own right.

• Acquisition of Governor Money has diversified offering to savers Family Investments, leading supplier of financial solutions for the family, today reported a 35% increase in operating profit as it released its annual results for the twelve months ending 31st December 2011. Profits rose to over £14.5 million compared to £10.7 million the previous year.

The Brighton-based mutual also reported that funds under management now stand at £3.5 billion. Membership numbers also continued to grow and now exceed 1.75 million, almost double the number five years ago making Family Investments the largest friendly society by membership. Total payments to members reached a record high of £693 million. These strong results have been driven by success in the children’s savings market and continued growth in adult ISA savings through the successful partnership with the Post Office. Family Investments was also one of the first providers to offer a Junior ISA when it launched on 1st November 2011. Since then over 10,000 accounts have been opened with particularly strong demand coming from existing Child Trust Fund (CTF) holders, highlighting parents’ desire to make equal provisions for siblings who may have missed out on the CTF.

During 2011, Family Investments also acquired Governor Money an online cash savings platform. Governor Money lets savers manage their money better by giving access to competitive savings rates from a range of banks and building societies with just one secure account. This acquisition helps diversify Family Investments’ offering to savers and is a key part of the business’ growth strategy. John Reeve, Chief Executive of Family Investments said: “I’m delighted that we have been able to deliver another strong set of results in the face of a challenging operating environment. “The launch of the Junior Isa was a key milestone for us in 2011. Without the introduction to saving afforded by the CTF voucher the market for the Junior Isa is likely to be smaller and more expensive to operate than its predecessor. However, we believe it is important for a children’s savings product to be affordable for all and to offer Junior Isa customers the same level of service we offer CTF customers. This is why we have set our minimum premium at £10 per month to ensure that the Junior ISA is available to as many families as possible.

“Technology is allowing financial service providers to offer innovative new products to their customers and our acquisition of Governor Money is an illustration of this trend. Governor Money is a brand new cash savings platform very much aligned to savers’ needs, taking the hard work out of saving by allowing customers to manage money with multiple deposit takers from one single account.” You can access the full report and accounts at the following link: www.familyinvestments.co.uk/member-information/

Since October 2009, according to the Bank of England, lending to SMEs has fallen every year. Latest insolvency statistics released by The Insolvency Service show 4,260 company insolvencies in the last quarter of 2011, a rise of 7.2% on the same period a year ago with compulsory liquidations increasing a staggering 16.1% . Only the fittest will survive and remain profitable. Daniels Silverman are urging businesses everywhere to undertake a full credit review and overhaul of internal credit processes to ensure a successful future and avoid becoming one of the above statistics.

Carole Hughes, managing director, Daniels Silverman, says: “We have seen a 18% increase in the number of enquiries from businesses seeking to recover unpaid debts and overdue accounts. Many problems could have been averted by companies reviewing and overhauling their internal credit control procedures. By making simple changes to their credit control procedures such as how and when they grant credit and reviewing how they chase unpaid invoices, a company can boost cash-flow and drastically reduce it’s bad debt provision.”
Key areas to review are:-
• How credit limits are set and monitored
• Internal dunning cycles and collection strategies
• Terms and conditions of trading, and
• The use of third party debt collection agencies to resolve problem accounts

The Government’s current attempts to help SMEs boost trading and profitability do not go far enough, and business owners need to ensure they do everything they can to help themselves.

After all, without it will leave you vulnerable and in a strong position of financial hardship if the worst was to happen. Not just drastically changing your everyday lifestyle but affecting those around you that would need to adjust to offer the care and assistance required to make the affected individuals life as comfortable as possible. There is much to be said about life these days, where money plays such an important factor in the mere existence of so many people across the world. We are brought up to know that without money or some sort of income, it is very difficult to maintain a good lifestyle within westernised worlds, with only a few nomadic areas of the world left, where currency is that other than coins and notes and indigenous tribes remain self contained, growing their own foods and living a simple, yet rewarding life.

The fact is financial security is key to so many individual’s happiness and having a policy that can cover your income is most definitely a worthy consideration to make, perhaps not just to benefit yourself as an individual but also for your immediate family of spouse as they will be left with the pressure of a lost income, after all losing half of a family’s income can have disastrous effects, especially within the current economic state that the UK and many other parts of the globe have been experiencing. Unless for a very small minority, an individual has no financial worries and more than enough capital to maintain their lifestyle, such as premier league footballers and film stars, certain considerations need to be made such as downsizing on a property, selling off treasured items and considering a possible house sale if things became too much. The average income protection policy is designed to offer a claimant not a onetime cash lump sum but instead a large percentage of their current salary or earnings. Paying out a set amount each month until either the end of the contract, if the individual becomes better and finds that they can work again or the age of retirement arrives; Income Protection Insurance really can be worth its weight in gold. It can allow for the peace of mind and rest assurance that if suffering a serious personal mishap in any shape or form, experiencing a disabling accident such as a high fall or being involved in an industrial accident.

There are plans that can also cover against redundancies too, however these are difficult to find due to the rising levels of unemployment here within the UK. Income Protection Insurance is one company that offers accident and illness income protection, sourcing the best policies that can be tailored to the needs of individuals and if so necessary also their children and partners too. Policies can be taken out by employers to act as a voluntary contribution for employees to take out, covering them in case they suffer an accident of sickness within the workplace.

On hand to answer questions regarding the levels of benefits that are attainable for you when taking out a policy, discover the excellent coverage that you can receive within a bespoke package or insurance policy and allow the experts to arrange the best possible cover for you, your employees or your family.

Findings by uSwitch reveal that money troubles play heavily on a new mum’s mind and that 11% are ending their maternity leave early simply to boost their finances.

The survey found that around a third of women on childbearing leave had gone into the red and on average raked up to £2,500 in debts. Only 25% of those surveyed felt financially prepared for motherhood but on average the monthly household income had dropped from £2,866 to £1,654 whilst the female was off work.

A pay cut alongside rising energy bills, food and petrol prices as well as an increase in VAT is leaving many new mums feeling the pinch. Purse strings are tight from many Brits during tough economic times and the pressures faced by families is overstated.

The survey suggests that women are either being forced back to work early to save the pennies, or going into debt so they can bond with their newborn. 10% of those surveyed said they had borrowed money from a family member or friend; and 14% resorted to loans, overdrafts and credit cards to keep their heads above water.
