Pain is the most common reason patients seek medical care, as it affects the quality of life many people experience and has significant sensory and emotional components. Whilst advances have been made in pain management, few significant ones have occurred, making it harder in recent years to get analgesics to market.
In the current economic climate, this makes it even more imperative for companies to improve their R&D methods so that drugs being put forward for clinical trials have the best chance of success.

Hear key presentations from industry-leading experts:
• Kevin Lee, Head of Epigenetics Discovery Unit, Epinova (GlaxoSmithKline)
• Chas Bountra, Professor of Translational Medicine, Head, Structural Genomics Centre Oxford University
• Jonathan Stewart, Disease Area Head, Neuroscience, Immunology and Pain, Bristol-Myers Squibb
• Philip Kym, Associate Director II Pain Discovery Research, Abbott
• Mark Bowlby, Neurophysiology and Pain Lead, Merck
• Dave Shelton, Senior Director, Pfizer Global Research & Development

Key reasons to attend:
• Evaluate recent advances in experimental pain models and translational techniques
• Discuss the current topics in CNS clinical trials
• Develop strategies to improve the chance of success for your candidate drugs
• Discover how epigenetics can help in the elucidation of new targets
• Learn about the current targets in pain drug development and their potential for new therapies
• Network with key industry associates and solution providers to share valuable experiences

Carbon emissions from shipping are already double that of international aviation, and a single large container ship one can throw out as much acidifying sulphur dioxide in a year as 50 million cars. As a result, despite standing on the height of enormous opportunities, Offshore Support Vessels (OSVs) are facing a key challenge – being operationally efficient in the face of rising demand and tighter energy efficiency regulations. Shipping industry experts will gather at IQPC’s Offshore Support Vessels Summit 2012 to discuss key project management strategies for cost-efficient, operationally reliable and NOx/SOx compliant OSVs.
Taking place in Amsterdam on the 26th – 28th April, Offshore Support Vessels Summit brings you the latest insights and case studies on optimising the design and operational aspects of OSVs to reduce emissions, maximise production and reduce downtime. Through a global agenda showcasing real-life experiences from Europe, Asia, North and South America, the event will equip ship-owners/operators and oil companies with the best design tools and operational strategies to manage their OSV projects and successfully leverage the advances in energy efficient technologies.

When corporate event organisers are looking for a conference centre Preston to host any event, for an excellent location combined with excellent facilities you should consider the Barton Grange Hotel. Based in a countryside location just outside Preston city centre, the hotel has easy access to the M6 and M55 making it ideal for businesses based across the North West.

The Barton Grange Hotel is also the ideal destination for a range of corporate events due to the first-rate facilities on offer. As one of the leading hotels Preston, the Barton Grange is the perfect location for a meeting, conference, exhibition or training course.

The hotel can cater for up to 300 people across their various conference suites, with each suite featuring latest modern facilities including audio-visual equipment and WI-FI internet access. The main conference suite, the Barton Room, has been completely refurbished in the last few years to include a separate entrance and can also be divided into four self-enclosed rooms. There are also 3 smaller syndicate rooms available.

As well as flexible meeting rooms, there are also flexible catering options available. Delegates can either take some time out to have a buffet lunch or a meal in the Walled Garden, the on-site restaurant, or have a working lunch brought in to the meeting room.

For the whole month of January, the Barton Grange has special offer available – the day delegate rate has been slashed to just £28 per person. Delegates will benefit from the same great service and excellent facilities but at a lower price so businesses that are looking to hold an event in January should make the Barton Grange Hotel their first choice.
