Fetch Media, an independent and specialist mobile advertising agency, has been nominated in the Mobile Marketing category and also for the Finance Director&#8217;s Award. The shortlist represents the very best work from the UK&#8217;s most successful brands and agencies, and each year the winners help to set the standard of marketing excellence in the UK. Fetch&#8217;s nomination in the Mobile Marketing category is based on the global mobile marketing campaign developed exclusively for the Hotels.com brand to promote its mobile app in the Android and iOS app stores.</p>
<p>The nomination for the Finance Director&#8217;s Award is particularly significant as this shortlist is drawn from all entries submitted in all categories. The Judges have selected the Fetch-Hotels.com case study as an example of effective marketing spends.</p>

<p>Advertising sales platform myadbase has announced a range of exciting new developments, which will be officially launched at this year&#8217;s Publishing Expo on 28 and 29 February. In the last year the business has received new backing and funding which has allowed the hiring of a creative team who have breathed new life into the website at www.myadbase.com.</p>
<p>While sporting a new look, design and structure, the website&#8217;s changes are far from just cosmetic. myadbase now offers improved and new functionality for publishers and agencies, and an enhanced experience for those looking to buy advertising in every type of media &#8212; from traditional print, TV and radio to innovative new media and out-of-home advertising.</p>
<p>myadbase&#8217;s marketing director, Andrew Long, commented on the platform&#8217;s new look and associated offerings:</p>

<p>Advertising agencies are already seeing benefits of the changes to the myadbase platform. Agencies can create a profile page featuring live links, images and testimonials, but can now also upload a portfolio of creative files to impress potential clients. There is also a simple but dynamic &#8220;add to favourites&#8221; tool so buyers of media and agency services can store their favourite profiles for convenient review at a later date.</p>
<p>Another exciting innovation is the launch of a new &#8220;best price offer&#8221; system. <p>&#8220;Over the last 6 months we have asked publishers what they want from an online media service like ours and the feedback we have received has been positive and enlightening. Most media sellers want more visibility for their media products. They want a service where buyers can find advertising media through organic search methods (including Google, Yahoo and Bing) but also through simple media categories or an internal search facility on the website. If buyers can find a highly relevant media product and then view a media pack, image and clear description then they are more likely to contact the seller or make an offer on the inventory listed on the site. One of the most surprising things we learned from our conversations with publishers was that they wanted to keep it simple. There should be a level of interaction, but not so much that will put people off doing business. I feel we have got it just about right.&#8221;</p>

A source from ThinkMarketing has commented on this, saying, &#8220;The development that the researchers have achieved is astounding&#8221;.</p>
<p>Dr David Cavanagh, Senior Lecturer for The Institute of Immunology and Infection Research at The University of Edinburgh told The Journal: &#8220;We identified this protein, which is found on the surface of blood stage malaria parasites, as a target of antibody responses in African children naturally exposed to malaria by their exposure to infected mosquitoes. Importantly, we observed that the children who had antibodies in their blood to this protein were less likely to become ill with malaria than children who lacked these specific antibodies. Antibodies to other parasite proteins did not correlate with this protection.&#8221;</p>
<p>It is hoped that the RTS,S will combine with the new vaccine in order to fight the disease&#8217;s ability to produce new strains of itself, each having to be dealt with by the human immune system differently. The study has already proved successful on animals and has subsequently applied for trials to be next carried out on humans.</p>
<p>ThinkMarketing&#8217;s Managing Director has described this discovery as inspiring, saying: &#8220;Roughly 781,000 deaths were caused by a Mosquito bite in 2009 &#8211; If there is a vaccine out there that can hugely reduce this in years to come, it&#8217;s thoroughly inspiring&#8221;.</p>
<p>The bad news is that, unfortunately the vaccine could take up to 10 years to be developed. Human trials are extremely expensive and funding is difficult to achieve. Dr Cavanagh said: &#8220;RTS,S has been in development for over 20 years, so we are at the beginning of a very long road. It can take 10 years or more for a prototype vaccine to reach the people who need it.&#8221; Dr Cavanagh also stressed that the vaccine would &#8220;need to be free, especially in Africa where the people who need it are living on one or two dollars per day. That requires BIG money from governments.&#8221;</p>

Research published shows that 3 out of every 5 of those questioned said that they did not feel they were appropriately equipped for severe weather like heavy snow, a prolonged freeze or flooding. ThinkMarketing&#8217;s Managing Director has commented on this, saying &#8220;I think looking at the previous two or three winter&#8217;s people should definitely prepare for shocking winter.&#8221;</p>
<p>This comes after Scotland experienced 2 severe winters in a row, with last year&#8217;s winter being the worst in several decades. The Scottish Government and its agencies have worked hard to ensure that lessons are learned to improve preparations and enhance services, a key component of which will be this nationwide public awareness campaign. ThinkMarketing&#8217;s Managing Director has said &#8220;I understand these results, I wonder how it will affect the people I work alongside also&#8221;</p>
<p>The &#8216;Ready for Winter?&#8217; campaign is being delivered in partnership with the British Red Cross, some of the findings the survey showed are:</p>
<p>67% of people are worried about a major emergency situation having an impact on them or their community in the next five years.</p>
<p>The highest level of concern was recorded for emergencies due to extreme weather, which saw 54% of people feeling concerned about this.</p>
<p>46% of people said they did not feel prepared to deal with any emergency, with 58% saying they weren&#8217;t prepared for a period of severe weather.</p>
<p>Exactly half of those questioned said they felt personally responsible for ensuring they and their families were prepared for an emergency.</p>
<p>A source from ThinkMarketing has commented on these results, saying, &#8220;Looking back on the previous two winters that Scotland have faced were perhaps a blessing in disguise for now we can learn from them and prepare for worse to come!&#8221;</p>

Buy a happy turkey this Christmas from Morton&#8217;s Traditional Taste</p>
<p>A Norfolk turkey farmer will be selling his ethically reared birds across Britain this Christmas as part of his online selling venture.</p>
<p>Rob Morton, of Morton&#8217;s Traditional Taste, started selling free range Christmas turkeys via his website www.freerangeturkeys.co.uk last year. His first year of online trading saw 60 birds leave his Skeyton base in specially made boxes complete with ice packs, for destinations right across Britain. But sales have really taken off this year with more than 250 birds already promised to online shoppers with a short time still to go until Christmas.</p>
<p>But what makes a Morton&#8217;s turkey different to the one from your local supermarket? Only the best quality chicks make it to Morton&#8217;s, after being given a growing period 9 weeks longer than an intensively reared turkey. They are fed on a cereal diet containing no growth promoters or additives, and housed in sheds on clean straw with 24 hour access to range in large paddocks. Morton&#8217;s only rear a small number of birds each year, allowing for a closer attention to detail and more space for the birds to roam. The meat is also allowed to mature for a minimum of 10 days in their cold stores for a true &#8220;traditional taste&#8221;. Morton&#8217;s understands that by looking after the welfare of their Turkeys they provide the best way for you to enjoy your meat this Christmas; with a delicious flavour and a clear conscience.</p>
<p>Rob Morton, of Morton&#8217;s Traditional Taste believes that the success of his online enterprise comes from people&#8217;s increasing interest in sourcing high-quality high welfare turkey for their Christmas dinner. Rob said:</p>
<p>&#8220;People want to know how their food is produced. We have a lot of information on our website with pictures of how the turkeys live so they can see that they have a happy healthy life.&#8221; Sales have also no doubt been boosted this year since judges in the Great Taste Awards &#8211; the &#8216;Oscars&#8217; of the food world &#8211; awarded his Bronze turkey Two Stars in this year&#8217;s awards. Rob and his wife Becca rear 1000 free-range Bronze and Norfolk Black turkeys and free-range chickens. Rearing different breeds means that Morton&#8217;s can offer their customers a range of sizes from 4.5kg up to 11.5kg. The Bronze are the bigger birds with the male turkeys, stags, reaching 11.5kg. Choice of breed is a matter of taste, says Rob:</p>
<p>&#8220;The Bronze has a fuller, rounded breast, while the Norfolk Black has a longer narrower breast and a more gamey flavour.&#8221; While the Bronze is the most popular choice, the Norfolk Black has a strong following amongst those who appreciate its fuller flavour and who like to support the traditional breed. Turkey chicks &#8211; called poults &#8211; are bought in as day-olds from a farm in Essex in June and spend the following months enjoying the outdoor life on Rob&#8217;s family farm in Skeyton. They are eventually prepared on the farm, thus avoiding the stress of travelling.</p>
<p>The Morton family started rearing turkeys around 20 years ago. &#8220;It started with rearing just a few in the garden for family and friends and has gone from there,&#8221; explains Rob. Local customers pick their turkeys up from the farm gates and online customers of Morton&#8217;s will have their turkeys dispatched by overnight courier on the 21st of December.</p>

He achieved his incredible world first in 6 months, 11 days, 7 hours and 53 minutes and aims to raise £1 million in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care. Part of his epic fundraising is a competition running until midnight on 12 July 2012, in which supporters wanting to help Richard raise £1 million in aid of Marie Curie have the opportunity to win a brand new Audi A1 (without its wrapping), donated by Mon Motors Audi.
