Finding Autism friendly venues in the UK just got easier

AutistFriendly Ltd

Posted 11th July 2017.

This Summer a new service was launched to help families and friends of those living with autism spectrum disorder find and share venues in the UK and Ireland to help with planning days out and holidays.

AutistFriendly.com has been running since 2015 and providing a service to the many families who have someone diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and it has recently launched mobile apps to make this service easier to use. Autism is a lifelong developmental disorder which affects approximately 1 in every 100 children in the UK often leading to speech and language difficulties, delayed learning and challenges understanding social interactions. Over 700,000 people in the UK are on the autistic spectrum and if you include their families, over 2.8 million people have autism as part of their daily life.

These new mobile apps are developed for most common smartphone platforms for iPhone and Android devices and will be regularly renewed and updated following user feedback.

David Sargent, founder of AutistFriendly.com says: “I am passionate about helping families and friends of those living with autism to use their free time and holidays to really get out there and enjoy all the wonderful places which have taken steps to make visiting their venues easier and less stressful for those on the autism spectrum. Having first hand experience of this, I know that days out can sometimes make autistic children and adults become anxious and lead to overstimulation, so any recommendations from families who know of great places such as parks, museums, or activity centres which cater for autistic visitors is a great help. At AutistFriendly.com and with our newly launched mobile apps, we’re aiming to make it easier to find, share and rate these brilliant venues”.
