Liverpool ONE Announces Festival of Frozen Fun

<strong>Liverpool, UK (15th October, 2012) -</strong> <a href=”http://www.liverpool-one.com/”>Liverpool ONE</a>, a large shopping and leisure destination in the heart of Liverpool, is set to open the first ever urban ice experience – #IceFestival. Incorporating four ice-themed activities, this will be the UK’s biggest-ever group of real ice attractions in one place.

#IceFestival will be housed in the heart of the City on Chavasse Park, and has been brought to Liverpool by the team behind the world-renowned London Ice Sculpting Festival.

From 7th November – 13th January, visitors to Liverpool ONE can experience the UK’s largest real Ice Slide, plus an ice gallery featuring crafted sculptures leading to Santa’s Grotto. There will also be an outdoor Alpine Ice Rink, while grown-ups can enjoy a drink in the UK’s first ever pop-up real Ice Bar. Tickets for the biggest-ever frozen festival are available in advance from Ticket Master at <a href=”http://www.ticketmaster.co.uk/icefestival”>www.ticketmaster.co.uk/icefestival</a> or at an onsite box office from 7th November.

Donna Howitt, Marketing Director at Liverpool ONE said, “Liverpool ONE is proud to be bringing something of this scale to the city for the festive period – this really will be a highlight of the Christmas calendar! #IceFestival will offer an arctic adventure where I’m sure all our visitors will form many happy memories.”

A massive 25 tons of crystal clear carving ice will be used to create the Ice bar, Ice Gallery and carving displays. The rink holds approximately 7 tons of ice covering over 600 sq. metres.

Ice Box, a team of highly experienced artists – who worked on the London Ice Sculpting Festival – brings this incredible Ice experience to the UK for the first time. During the #IceFestival, there will be a series of exciting displays and events, with free live ice-carving displays throughout weekends in November & December. Visitors can enjoy a hot chocolate or mulled wine served from a contemporary alpine cafĂ© bar and terrace alongside the ice rink. Throughout Chavasse Park, there will be plenty of activities to keep younger visitors entertained.

Philip Hughes, Creative Head, Ice Box, said: “The Ice Box team is very excited to bring the UK’s biggest-ever group of ice attractions to Liverpool. Chavasse Park in Liverpool ONE is the perfect place for this to happen – not only does it look great, but it’s a central hub for shoppers and visitors to the city to come and enjoy #IceFestival. We can’t wait to see the reaction of visitors to Liverpool. It’s sure to be the coolest winter experience around.”
