BAG A BUILDER LTD.
December 1st has seen the much-anticipated launch of Bag a Builder, a platform connecting homeowners with tradesmen for a range of construction jobs.
Bag a Builder’s goal is a simple one: to put homeowners and construction firms in touch with authenticated, certified, skilled tradesmen. But what exactly does this mean?
Authenticated: Only tradesmen with a valid CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) Card will be able to register with Bag a Builder
Certified: Tradesmen will have the right training, qualifications and resulting certificates necessary to practise their respective trade
Skilled: Tradesmen, through training will have acquired the right skills for their respective trade
Central to bag a Builder’s overall business model are CSCS Cards. Introduced in 1995 by the construction industry, CSCS Cards help to show a tradesman’s qualifications and understanding of health and safety on a construction site. The large majority of construction sites in the UK require tradesmen to hold a valid CSCS Card. Without one, they are unlikely to be allowed on site. With the construction industry moving towards its goal of a fully qualified and highly skilled workforce, CSCS Cards are widely seen as key to achieving this goal.
Homeowners and construction firms alike will have the chance to post their jobs and search for tradesmen safe in the knowledge that Bag a Builder’s tradesmen are highly qualified and skilled in their trade. With a number of surveys suggesting that individuals are more confident if their tradesman is qualified, it’s widely expected that Bag a Builder’s innovative platform will prove popular throughout the UK.
CSCS is the leading skills certification scheme within the UK construction industry.
