A fantastic free offer is right on your doorstep at East Lodge

The offer supports the On your Doorstep campaign, which is being coordinated by Visit Peak District and Derbyshire, urging local people to take a fresh look at what the region has to offer in an 11 day promotion from 20-30 April.

To celebrate this first On your Doorstep campaign, anyone who spends £100 or more in the East Lodge restaurant (on dinner, wines, tea, coffee and restaurant drinks, etc.) between 20 and 30 April 2010 will receive a complimentary overnight stay. To keep things simple, there are no other terms and conditions but people will have to get in quick to take advantage because once the rooms are gone, they are gone!

A host of the regions tourist attractions are taking part, from theme parks and caverns to Chatsworth House itself and as the closest hotel to the famous house; East Lodge is the perfect location place to stay, while taking in some of the delights of the region at some of the special discounted rates on offer throughout this campaign.

Its easy when you live in such a beautiful part of the country to take for granted what you see every day, said Iain Hardman, director of multi-award winning East Lodge. As locals, we are all guilty of visiting other parts of the country before we have seen half of what we have on our own doorstep, so we are delighted to be supporting this first On Your Doorstep campaign.

The campaign is a unique opportunity for local people to find out or re-discover just how much the region has to offer. Chatsworth House is a familiar name, but it is perhaps easy for locals to overlook in favour of country houses and attractions further afield. Likewise, people think they may have to travel a long way to find the finest hotels and restaurants, maybe not realising some of the finest accommodation and dining experiences can be found right on their own doorstep.

The free room offer from East Lodge for the On Your Doorstep campaign will be an ideal introduction for many local people to one of the finest hotel and dining experiences to be had not just in this region, but the country. Owned by the Hardman family, the hotel can boast a prestigious range of accolades to its name. These include the coveted AA Inspectors Choice, with three red stars for 2010 placing it within the top 150 hotels in the UK and East Lodge remains just one of 48 hotels in the country presented with a Visit England Gold Award.

People taking advantage of the On Your Doorstep offer will be lucky enough to sample accommodation and dining at its best. East Lodge offers 12 luxury suites and these together with the multi-award winning restaurant are based in 10 acres of stunning grounds. Each of the bedrooms has been individually furnished to the exacting standards guests would expect to find in a hotel of this calibre. Each room possesses a country house charm of its own, yet still finds space for touches of unashamed elegance like the flat screen TV you will find in every bathroom.

A meal in the famous East Lodge restaurant is also something to savour and first time diners in the restaurant during the campaign are in for a rare treat. Head chef Simon Bradley is regularly called upon to give demonstrations of his skills, having trained at The Ritz in Paris for several years before honing his skills working with the internationally renowned Raymond Blanc at LeManoir. When not busy at East Lodge, Simon will be showcasing his culinary skills at the Buxton Festival and at the Fine Food Village at the Chatsworth show later in the year.

Many of our guests come from outside the region so we are looking forward to welcoming some more local people, added Iain Hardman. We know many people are still feeling the pinch, so this campaign is a great introduction to the attractions of the region at an unbeatable price.

EL0059 On Your Doorstep Offer 2010

Let Peak Leisure Vehicles conduct your very own Bargain Hunt!

Founded in 2006 by local entrepreneurs Claire and Steve Parsons, the business has thrived though sourcing the best used vehicles for customers and the success of the formula has seen the companys growth continue, with much new business arriving from repeat custom from clients who were so happy the first time around that they have returned to ask Peak Leisure Vehicles to help them again, which has led to the development of this new nationwide vehicle search service.

Any stigma once associated with buying used vehicles has all but disappeared, as people come to appreciate the advantages a pre-owned vehicle can bring. No VAT is payable on used vehicles, which are generally very low mileage, and because the bulk of the depreciation has been suffered by the unfortunate first buyer, the savings to be made on new can be considerable.

Where possible, we always try to buy off the first owner, said Peak Leisure Vehicles director Steve Parsons, in this way we are always sourcing the very best vehicles and at the very lowest prices, which we can then pass onto our customers.

In practice, this can mean savings of between ten and twenty thousand pounds on a new vehicle. This is bad news for the original owner, who is often shocked by the reduction in value! Most of this loss is taken up by VAT, because once motorhomes reach a certain age, they do not decrease much in value. Paradoxically, this makes them a sound investment a real bargain if you buy a used vehicle from the start.

The smart move is always to by used and this is particularly true with motor homes, continued Steve. The original owners can be stunned by just how much their new motorhome depreciated the moment they drove out of the showroom, but customers who drive a used vehicle out of our showroom are often pleasantly surprised to find their vehicle has not lost much by the time they wish to replace it. On average, they will only loose between two and three thousand per year, depending on what you do with them of course!

Motorhomes are on the move like never before, as people of all ages are now discovering the benefits of being a motorhome owner. Traditionally associated just with the retired couple cashing in on their pension funds, this old stereotype is giving way as increasing numbers of younger couples and families discover the cost advantages, convenience and freedom that a motor home can provide.

With prices from as little as £8,000, Peak Leisure Vehicles have attracted not just enthusiasts, but a new generation of purchaser, who have seen that a motor home can be a real bargain and not just for the rich and need not cost the earth. This increased demand now has Steve cris-crossing the country in search of the right motorhomes for a growing, yet still discerning customer base.

Many customers looking at used vehicles for the first time always voice reliability concerns and many people have had bad experiences with car warranties not offering the level of coverage they would expect. This has led Peak Leisure Vehicles to offer customers their own warranty. We source our vehicles so carefully, that maintenance issues rarely arise, but in the cases where they have, we found some warranty providers doing anything they could to wriggle out of helping our customers, and we found this unacceptable continued Steve. Since we source our own vehicles, we felt confident in offering our own comprehensive warranty, which has not surprisingly proved very popular.

Steves next motorhome hunt is taking him up to Scotland and across the country to Bristol, so he is putting the miles in this year already! Its true to say I put a fair few miles in, laughed Steve. But if you are determined to purchase the best, then you have to go where you can find them.

All set Fair for East Lodge at Chatsworth

Held over three days on the 3, 4 and 5 September, the 29th Chatsworth Country Fair is one of the largest events of its type in the country; the show now has a demonstration tent as part of its Fine Food Village programme, where top chefs are invited to come and showcase their skills for the publics enjoyment.

Simon Bradley from East Lodge will be appearing on Friday 3 September at 12 noon, and the public lucky enough to see him at work on the day will be in for a rare treat usually reserved for visitors to the East Lodge restaurant. Simon trained at The Ritz in Paris for several years before honing his skills working with the internationally renowned Raymond Blanc at LeManoir.

The Chatsworth Fair has become a key event in our region and we are delighted to be talking part again, said East Lodge managing director Iain Hardman. Simon has a few culinary ideas up his sleeve for Chatsworth, so while he is keeping his plans a closely guarded secret for the moment, we are already looking forward to what has become a must-attend event in the local food and drink calendar.

Along with the opportunity to see top chefs like Simon at work, the Chatsworth Fair will boast over 300 trade stands with local crafts and produce from the heart of the Peak District and scores of showground attractions around the estate, many with a local country theme. Visitors seldom realise that the fair is home to several events that are worthy of note. These include one of the largest horse driving meets in the UK, the famous sheep dog trials and the unique spectacle of one of the largest hot air balloon lifts in the country.

These attractions and many more continue to draw crowds of over 90,000 visitors over the three days from all over the UK; being the closest hotel to Chatsworth makes East Lodge the perfect place to stay and take in all the fun of the fair.

East Lodge is owned by the Hardman family and has picked up a wide range of prestigious accolades over recent years. The hotel has again achieved the coveted AA Inspectors Choice accolade with three red stars for 2010, placing it within the top 150 hotels in the UK and East Lodge is one of just 48 hotels in UK presented with a Visit England Gold Award.

The doors for the Chatsworth Fair open at 9 am each day and close at 6.30 pm, prices are £13 on Friday and £15 on Saturday and Sunday.

£4,000 PPI compensation payday for West Midlands woman

A West Midlands woman has received a payout of just under £4,000 against a mis-sold payment protection insurance (PPI) policy, thanks to the help of financial claims specialist Brunel Franklin. Ms Janet Lesley received the timely sum after Brunel Franklin successfully challenged the vendor, Halifax, on her behalf.

Janet, a nurse from Dudley, arranged some finance back in 2006 in a face to face meeting with Halifax, and was advised to buy the PPI as an integral part of a £10,700 debt consolidation loan. She says she was not told how the cost of the policy would be calculated, or that she could shop around for more suitable products. It was only when Janet saw reports concerning mis-sold PPI in the press towards the end of 2009, that she began to suspect her own policy may have been
mis-sold.

In a bid to recover her cash, Janet contacted Brunel Franklin and in less than three months, was awarded £3,907.61 worth of PPI compensation. I was very pleased with what Brunel Franklin did for me and wouldnt have known where to start myself, said Janet. It was great to receive the cheque and Id certainly advise other people in this situation to get professional help too, she added.

Like many others in the health and medical profession, Janet works long hours and her cash is hard earned, so Brunel Franklins no-win-no-fee service was a real attraction.

Brunel Franklin managing director, Sally Bowyer, said: PPI can in certain situations be a useful financial product, but that doesnt mean vendors can just sell it to anyone whether they need it or not. In this case it was not made clear to Janet that PPI was optional, and it just added to the already high cost of her existing debts.Cheaper, more suitable insurance is often available and customers have every right to shop around for it, but this fact isnt always made clear, continued Sally. Unfortunately, this case is far from unusual and Brunel Franklin is doing all it can to get PPI justice for Janet and others like her.

If you think you have grounds for a claim, then contact Brunel Franklins team of highly experienced staff today. You can telephone the company free of charge on 0800 0515451 or for more information, why not log onto the website at www.brunelfranklin.com. The website contains much useful information, testimonials from satisfied clients and a simple 60-second test to see if you have grounds for a claim.

The devil is in the Epstein detail at East Lodge

Due to take place in September and October, visitors will have the opportunity to view and perhaps purchase works by major figures from the world of sculpture.

As a taste of what is to come, the two hotels have already played host to some smaller works in bronze as an example of the quality that will be on display later this year with the Peacock displaying work by Leslie Summers and East Lodge showing off a bronze by Sir Jacob Epstein.

On display at East lodge on Friday was Lucifer, Belial and Beelzebub, a highly detailed three figure bronze work by Epstein depicting incarnations of the devil. Sir Jacob Epstein is considered one of the pioneers of modern sculpture, and this smaller piece is related to his iconic work entitled St. Michaels victory over Satan outside Coventry Cathedral.

The Epstein piece is sure to attract a great deal of interest, said Stephen Earnshaw, director of Derwent-Wye. Bronzes like this were usually only produced in small numbers. It is priced at around £6,000, which is sure to attract fans of Epsteins work.

The Peacock manager Jenni MacKenzie displayed a work by Leslie Summers entitled Kneeling Mother and Child. This is another example of a fine bronze study by a popular artist, continued Steve. It is numbered four out of nine bronzes signed by the artist and expected to fetch just under £2,000.

This tripartite collaboration complements a similar display of sculpture at Chatsworth House and as the closest hotel to the regions most famous landmark, East Lodge is the perfect venue for art lovers to stay while they view the works on display.

Its a pleasure to be hosting part of this local exhibition of sculpture and working in partnership with two other local businesses for the overall benefit of the area, said Iain Hardman, director of multi award-winning East Lodge hotel and restaurant. East Lodge is a fantastic building and these contemporary sculptures will add another dimension to the hotel; our close proximity to Chatsworth makes us the perfect place for art lovers to stay while they enjoy the regions sculpture exhibitions later this year.

We cant wait to see these sculptures finally in situ at East Lodge and the Peacock, continued Steve. Its not every day you get to exhibit works from such a diverse range of famous artists in one region. Leslie Summers is becoming more widely recognised and a legend like Jacob Epstein is the icing on the cake.

East Lodge is owned by the Hardman family and attention to detail has seen the hotel pick up a wide range of prestigious accolades in recent years. East Lodge has again achieved the coveted AA Inspectors Choice accolade with three red stars for 2010, placing it within the top 150 hotels in the UK and were one of just 48 hotels in UK presented with the Visit England Gold Award. Brunel Franklin wins £4,000 for Yorkshire Woman

Susan Stansfield, a 42 year old secretary from Leeds, arranged a loan face to face with a bank representative back in 2005, but with PPI (payment protection insurance) mis-selling being raised increasingly in the news, she decided to check her own policy. She then visited Brunel Franklins website in June last year, and now just a few months later, she is celebrating a payout of £4,171.49.

The PPI seemed to be just included in my loan agreement although I had not been informed it was voluntary, said Susan. Having seen various adverts for companies who can help people in these situations, I decided to get in touch with Brunel Franklin.

Susans PPI was added to a consolidation loan she took out in 2005 and like so many other people, she never questioned the inclusion of PPI protection and simply assumed it was compulsory and that she had no choice in the matter.

Sally Bowyer, managing director of www.BrunelFranklin.com said: We see many cases like Susans, where people have had agreements in place for some years and have simply paid them thinking they did not have any other option. Many people are under the impression that they will not get their loan without PPI, but this is not the case.

We think that the people tasked with selling these PPI policies understand the true cost for the customer, yet this client like so many others is left to discover those implications for themselves. Chasing a vendor can be a difficult and time consuming process to undertake with no support or technical knowledge, and this is where Brunel Franklin comes in. We would encourage anyone who believes they may have been mis-sold a PPI policy to talk to us, as a quick initial assessment is usually enough for us to decide if you have grounds for a claim.

The average PPI compensation win handled by Brunel Franklin across all types of PPI policies is in the region of £2,200, with Brunel Franklins largest ever PPI win of any kind a staggering £27,000 payout against a First Plus policy in 2009.

To find out if Brunel Franklin can help you get compensation against a mis-sold PPI policy, just log on to http://www.brunelfranklin.com and take the simple 60-second test. Alternatively, you can telephone 0800 051 5451 free of charge.

Brunel Franklin wins nearly £7,000 PPI compensation for Londoner

A London man is celebrating after financial experts Brunel Franklin took First Plus to task on his behalf over a mis-sold PPI (payment protection insurance) policy on his personal loan, helping him win just under £7,000.

Simon Andrews, a security guard from north London, first complained about his PPI policy to Brunel Franklin back in January and now just a few weeks later, Simon is holding a cheque for £6,858.91, which will go a long way towards making up for a particularly stressful time in his life.

After seeing many adverts about debt management through loan consolidation and how it can cut your costs, I decided to approach First Plus for a consolidation loan, explained Simon. It was all sorted out on the phone and reducing my monthly payments seemed a great idea. The PPI appeared to be automatically added on to my agreement, and having already spent some time on the phone sorting it out, I didnt think to question the PPI element.

As a security guard, Simon works in a very stressful job and it was only when seeing other adverts for mis-sold PPI that he began to think about his own policy and made the decision to contact Brunel Franklin to see if he had a claim.

Given the stresses of my job, I could never have done all the chasing up on this myself, so it was important to have a company on hand who could do all that for me, continued Simon. I am really pleased with the PPI compensation and I couldnt have done it without Brunel Franklin.

Sally Bowyer, managing director of Brunel Franklin said: We are pleased to have been able to help Simon and others like him get the PPI compensation they are entitled to, and it stresses just how careful you need to be when taking out loans and credit agreements, particularly over the phone. It is easy to rush things over the phone and all too easy for the vendor not to make clear the all important detail of the policy. It really does pay to check the small print.

Many clients have taken out consolidation loans to solve their financial problems and have unwittingly signed up for more debt in the shape of PPI premiums, said Sally.

The average PPI compensation win handled by Brunel Franklin across all types of PPI policies is in the region of £2,200. Brunel Franklins largest ever PPI win of any kind a staggering £27,000 payout against another First Plus policy back in 2009.

In all cases is the responsibility of the vendor to ensure the policy they sell is the right one for you at the time of sale. If you didnt realise exactly what you were being sold and you have been paying for policies that werent fully explained, there is a chance you may have been mis-sold a policy, concluded Sally.

To find out if Brunel Franklin can help you get compensation against a mis-sold PPI policy, just log on to www.brunelfranklin.com and take the simple 60-second test. Alternatively, you can telephone 0800 051 5451 free of charge.

London calling at East Lodge dream wedding

It was sight for sore eyes at multi award-winning Peak District hotel and restaurant East Lodge recently, when there was an unusual visitor from a bygone age. A classic old Routemaster London Bus called in to East Lodge, but the driver wasnt lost; it was all part of making someones fairytale wedding come to life in Rowsley.

Together with The Tower of London and Big Ben, the iconic red Routemaster Bus is recognised worldwide as a synonymous with English heritage and London in particular, so its arrival in Rowsley for an exclusive wedding at East Lodge excited a great deal of interest and admiration, as the bus majestically traversed the country lanes.

The classic double-decker was used to transport wedding guests to and from the church to the reception being held at East lodge, and its arrival added a distinctly retro theme to East Lodge for the day. The wedding went without a hitch and with no Blakey in sight (!); the bus performed its role perfectly and added to yet another fairytale wedding experience at East Lodge.

It was great fun, if a bit unusual to see a London bus in Rowsley, said East Lodge director Iain Hardman. We have had people arriving by every sort of transport imaginable in the past, even helicopters are not uncommon here, but a classic red London bus is a first! It has really got the public excited and it was sad to see it go when it finally weaved its way down the drive.

East Lodge only conducts one wedding per day as part of its Exclusively Yours package, so couples have the flexibility to arrange the wedding of their dreams, all the way down to having a London bus to transport the guests if necessary! The classic Routemaster bus seen at East Lodge has been largely phased out and only two are still in use on heritage routes around London, so to see one is a rare treat, particularly in Rowsley. Buses have a long history and have been on Londons streets since 1829, in tune with the construction of East Lodge itself, which can trace its history back to the early 1800s. Motorised buses were introduced into London in 1902.

Set in the heart of the Peak District National Park, East Lodge is the closest hotel to Chatsworth and has proved a popular pace to stay and dine for visitors to the region and the famous House and has become the first choice for couples seeking the perfect wedding venue.

East Lodge is owned by the Hardman family and has picked up a wide range of prestigious accolades over recent years. East Lodge has again achieved the coveted AA Inspectors Choice accolade with three red stars for 2010, placing it within the top 150 hotels in the UK and is one of just 48 hotels in UK presented with the Visit England Gold Award. Derby Priest gives his blessing to motorhomes from Peak Leisure Vehicles!

When a local man of God needed a motorhome, divine intervention led him to Peak Leisure Vehicles! Gary Dundas is the curate at Risley, Stanton-by-Dale and Dale Abbey in Derbyshire, as well as the local butcher and together with his wife Diane, caught the motorhome bug only last year. Yet after just six months, they have already traded up to a larger second vehicle, both courtesy of Peak Leisure Vehicles.

We felt a motorhome could be for us after seeing a van conversion parked outside the shop, and as we go away quite a lot, we decided to look around, explained Gary. Our boarder terrier Hector has made it difficult to find accommodation where he could stay too, so a motorhome seemed like a great idea.

Gary and Diane were advised to try Peak Leisure Vehicles first on recommendations from friends and on arrival Diane immediately spotted the motorhome she wanted a four berth 96 Swift and they bought pretty much on the spot in August last year.

Steve at Peak Leisure Vehicles is great to deal with, continued Gary. We were made very welcome, they are not pushy at all and it is your decision. Once we shook on it, the deal was done and as we run a family business too, we recognised and appreciated the very personal nature of their service.

Peak Leisure Vehicles of Kirk Langley specialise in the sourcing and supply of superior pre-owned motor homes. A family business managed by motor home enthusiasts Claire and Steve Parsons, much of their work comes from repeat business and word of mouth from satisfied customers like Gary and Diane.

Its always nice to get people like Gary and Diane referred to us from other customers, said Peak Leisure Vehicles director Claire Parsons. Many customers come back to us for their second vehicle, as experience tends to reveal the things you wished you had first time around, but it was a surprise to see Gary and Diane again after just six months!

Gary and Diane fell in love with the motorhome lifestyle to such an extent that they were pretty much looking for an immediate upgrade. This time they chose a larger, six berth 07 Autotrail.

We wanted to upgrade while our first motorhome was still valuable, explained Gary. The new Autotrail has a useful dinette and the six berths provide the extra room we wanted. Both are lovely vehicles, but Hector is such a live wire that the additional space in the Autotrail really makes a difference. In fact we are off on our first trip to Skegness in a few weeks time! Its fair to say we have fallen in love with the lifestyle and the freedom it gives you, when you can just get away and switch off.

Gary himself has been quite ill recently, so the motorhome has come in handy as a place to recuperate and convalesce, while still being within reach of his customers and his parishioners. But despite the many benefits, buying a motorhome is an important decision that is worth taking some time over and seeking expert advice.

Buying a motorhome is a big decision, so it was great to be able to go back to Peak Leisure Vehicles and discuss what we were looking for with Claire and Steve, knowing we wouldnt be under any pressure, explained Gary. When you consider this latest motorhome cost more than we paid for the shop back in 1979, you really do appreciate getting the right advice from people you can trust! Diane and I are more than happy to recommend Peak Leisure Vehicles to anyone and have been as happy second time around as we were the first, although it may be a bit longer than six months before they see us again!

Fairytale Dreams Become Reality Thanks to East Lodge

Childhood dreams of becoming a princess turned into reality for 23 year old Chatsworth Estate resident, Emma Coleman. Fueled by endless hours of enchanting bedtime stories as a child, Emma had always dreamed of wearing a fairytale dress, meeting her very own Prince Charming and getting married in a magical place.

Unbeknown to Emma, her dreams were finally to be realised. Fast forward 20 years and Emmas own Cinderella story has become a reality. Working in a local bar Emma met her Prince Charming in the form of Chatsworth House Collections Steward and estate resident, Henry Coleman.

Emma said: Our eyes met whilst I was working in the bar, although it wasnt really love at first sight we were really good friends to start with and our love has grown from there. Two years later Henry asked me to marry him. I thought he was acting really strangely one evening and couldnt understand why; it wasnt until he knelt down on one knee in our lounge that I realised my dream wedding could soon become a reality and that in front of me was my own Prince Charming in the form of Henry!

The couple got to work on the wedding planning straight away, busily organising every last little detail. The sticking point was the wedding venue, however. The couple trawled the dales of Derbyshire looking for that magical place and were left disappointed that none of the venues they visited lived up to Emmas childhood dreams. A heartfelt last search on the internet unearthed East Lodge in Rowsley.

I couldnt believe it, being so close to where we lived. I was surprised to have missed this wonderful place, said Emma. The couple visited East Lodge that very day and were immediately impressed by the welcoming warmth of its staff and the fairytale faade, with its long sweeping drive and rolling landscaped gardens.
The team at East Lodge were fantastic; they answered all our questions, offered advice and put our minds at rest. We knew straight away that this was our perfect wedding venue, plus we would have it to ourselves; we didnt have to share our day with any other bride and groom, continued Emma.

Henrys mother and father, Butler to the Dowager Duchess of Devonshire, along with Emmas parents visited East Lodge the following weekend and gave their seal of approval.

The couple opted for one of East Lodges exemplary wedding packages, which made the hotel exclusively theirs from Friday afternoon until Sunday morning. Guests were welcomed with a delightful Derbyshire Cream Tea and treated to superb buffet on the evening of their first night at the hotel. For Henry and Emma, the Saturday began with a relaxed atmosphere with Emma happy in the knowledge that all of the minute detail she had asked for was being so expertly implemented by the team at East Lodge. The cream and gold theme Emma had chosen, ran seamlessly throughout the decorations, the table centres, flowers and even the wedding favours.

Emma said: East Lodge was even able to organise a special Guinness bar at the evening reception, for our many Irish guests, which made them feel really special.

Following their wedding at Edensor Church on the Chatsworth Estate, Emma and Henry chose to have photographs taken in the grounds of East Lodge.

We couldnt have planned the day any better, every little detail was catered for and I cant praise East Lodge highly enough for their dedication and professionalism that made our day perfect – just as I had imagined and dreamed of for many years, concluded Emma.

East Lodge is owned by the Hardman family and has picked up a number of important accolades in recent years; East Lodge has again achieved the coveted AA Inspectors Choice accolade with three red stars for 2009/10, placing it within the top 150 hotels in the UK. East Lodge was named Small Hotel of the Year 2008/09 at the East Midlands Tourism awards, and then went on to become a silver Winner as Hotel of the Year 2009/10 at the national finals – renowned as the tourism Oscars. In 2007/08 East Lodge was named Derbyshire Restaurant of the Year and also scooped the Cond Nast Johansens Most excellent service & Readers choice awards.
